Vesitynnyri meribiologille - Water butt for the marine biologist

There are many ways to reuse a paper roll tube, especially when making miniatures. This time I made a water butt for the Marine biologist's cottage. Collecting rainwater is important as there is no running water in the cottage although there is electricity. It is intended for summer use only and currently used by the marine biologist who is part of a group of university students assessing health of the Baltic sea.

How to make it? All you need is a paper roll tube, some cardstock, yarn, netting (optional), and acrylic paint.
- Cut the paper roll tube to a desired height.
- Cut two round pieces from the cardstock for the bottom and lid of the water butt. Glue the bottom piece to the tube. Wait with the lid.
- Add yarn around the tube to desired places. Mine were added a little above the middle of the tube.
- Let all the glue dry and then paint with a color of your choice.
- While the paint is drying, cut a small round hole to the lid. Paint it and let dry.
- When the paint has dried, glue some netting under the round hole. This part would be under the drainpipe preventing from any animals falling into the water. Place the lid on the tube or glue it in place. Voilà! Your miniature water tubb is ready.

Downstairs things area bit scattered around on the floor. Wellies, diving gear, and a gas stove for cooking sit side by side in "perfect harmony". Cleaning up would not hurt, though. .
