Romuromantiikkanurkkaus on valmis! - The Shabby chic corner is finished!

En tykkää Shabby chic -tyylistä... heh, älä sano 'ei koskaan'. Syksyn ensimmäisen kerhokokoontumisen jälkeen sain inspiraation tehdä shabby chic -tyylisiä huonekaluja ja siitä tämä pieni nurkkaus lähti... vähän lapasestakin. Ei taida olla ihan tyylipuhdasta romuromantiikkaa, mutta aimo pläjäys vaaleanpunaista.

I don't like the shabby chic -style... right. I really thought that shabby chic is the last style I'd use in any of my miniatures but never say never. I might have gone a bit overboard with the use of pink but why not!



Huonekalut ovat alunperin ruskeita valmishuonekaluja, jotka sain ystävällisen naapurini lahjoittaman Lundbyn mukana. Ne kokivat muodonmuutoksen. Kolttu ja ikkunaluukut ovat omaa käsialaa. Helmet, päivänvarjo ja läpsyttimet ovat jostakin kauan sitten pidetystä swapista. Ja meriaihetta piti tietysti saada tähän(kin) vaaleanpunaiseen unelmaan, sopivat ne seinälle tai ei. Lintuhäkki jäi tällä kertaa rannalle.

The furniture was given to me by my very kind neighbor together with her daughter's Lundby dolls' house from 1990. As you already know, the furniture went through some transformation. The dress and the shutters were made by me and the pearls, parasol and beach shoes were gifts in a swap held long ago. As always, I had to get a touch of ocean in this work, too. The bird cage was left out as it was making the room a little crowded.

Romuromantiikkaa - Shabby chic

Krakleerausta kerhossa ja muutenkin huonekalujen vanhentamista oli syksyn ensimmäisen kerhokerran aiheena. Maalasin ruskean tuolin valkoisella ja hioin maalattua pintaa kuluneen näköiseksi. Lopputulos oli hiukan tylsä.

Kotona innostuin kokeilemaan lisää. Ruskea tarjoilupöytä sai valkoisen kerroksen maalia, krakleerausainetta väliin ja vaaleanpunaisen päälikerroksen. Siitä tuli aika onnistunut.

Hyllyssä krakleerausaine ei jostakin syystä toiminut. Pohjalla valkoista, päällä vaaleankeltaista. Värit ovat kai liian samanlaisia eikä kunnon kontrastia synny. Käsittelin myös tylsän valkoiseksi maalatun tuolin uudelleen. Olen tekemässä pientä shabby chic -aiheista pienoishuonetta.

In the first club meeting this fall the topic was how to get aged looking furniture. I painted a simple brown chair with white and then sanded it to look old and used. Kind of shabby chic. I was so inspired by this meeting that I wanted to use the cracle medium on some of my mini furniture. I painted the brown tea trolley first with white, then added some cracle medium and gave the finishing touch with pink. It turned out pretty well.

The brown display cabinet got a coat of white, cracle medium and then the light yellow color. These colors are apparently way too similar as hardly any cracling appeared on the surface. I also repainted the boring white chair with pink. All these pieces of furniture are going to be placed in a shabby chic -themed scene that I'm working on.
